I Built a Tool to Make Amazon-Quickbooks Bookkeeping Actually Easy
I fixed my Amazon/Quickbooks spreadsheet. I also built a tiny tool that lets you do it without touching a spreadsheet.
Earlier this year I shared a free Amazon QuickBooks template to import Amazon data into QuickBooks
I use it for my business. So I figured... why not share it?
People loved it. Downloaded it hundreds of times.
But then the messages started coming in...
"Dobro, the numbers don't match."
Ouch. π
Let me tell you what happened, and how I fixed it.
Why Did My Amazon QuickBooks Template Break? π€
When I first built it, the spreadsheet aggregated everything at the brand level. Simple. Clean.
Then I got greedy.
I wanted product-level data. I wanted to see which products were making money and which were bleeding me dry.
So I rebuilt everything for product-level accounting.
Sounds great, right? Wrong.
This created a multitude of new edge cases:
- Some products are FBM, others are FBA
- Some products have inventory credits
- Amazon reports credits at account level, not product level
And I realized: I made this way too complicated π¨
What I Did to Fix It (2 Solutions) π‘
Here's what I built:
1. A simpler, brand-level spreadsheet (free forever)
2. A software called Scallop (for those who hate spreadsheets)
Both serve the same goal.
Transform this Amazon Payment Report...

... into this QuickBooks Profit & Loss Report

Let me break down each one.
1. The Simpler Amazon to QuickBooks Template
This new Amazon QuickBooks template Excel / Spreadsheet works for most Amazon businesses.
It aggregates everything at the brand level.
No more product-level headaches.
Who is this for?
β
Amazon resellers? Easy.
β
Amazon Wholesale? 30 seconds and you're done.
β
Brand owner shipping from your garage? Done.
My goal: Provide a completely free Amazon QuickBooks template.

2. Scallop - QuickBooks Amazon Integration Made Simple
Even the "simple" spreadsheet isn't that simple.
Especially if you hate spreadsheets. (I don't blame you!)
People reached out saying my sheet didn't work...
But the real problem? They missed some steps!.
So I built something better.

What Is Scallop? π€
Scallop is a QuickBooks Amazon bookkeeping app that does the magic for you.
Here's how it works:
- Upload your CSV file from Amazon
- Upload your PDF summary from Amazon
- Click a button
- Download & import into QuickBooks
That's it.
No spreadsheet involved.
No formulas.
No confusion about where to paste data.
No numbers to manually check.
Just a big β or β that validates everything for you.
It's literally drag, drop, and click.
How Does Scallop Actually Work?
Behind the scenes there's some calculation and AI magic.
But you don't need to think about any of that.
You can see exactly how it works in this video:
Simple, right?
Can I Use Scallop Now? (Beta Access) π
Scallop isn't open to the public yet.
But I'm looking for 10 beta users to try it with me.
Here's the deal:
Public price: will be $99 for lifetime access
Beta price: $29 for lifetime access
(Pay once, use forever.)
Plus, for beta users, I'll be personally involved, will check each import and transaction.
Why Am I Doing This? π€·ββοΈ
Because Amazon bookkeeping sucks.
Most bookkeeping firms charge $400/month for Amazon accounting.
Apps like A2X Amazon charge $19-$99/month (that's $228-$1,188/year).
And if you're doing under $500K in revenue, that's... overkill.
So I built the tools I wish existed when I started.
And the numbers are 100% accurate. They match my 1099-K for tax season.
No surprises. No auditor headaches.
Which One Should You Use? π―
Use the free Amazon QuickBooks template Excel if:
- You're comfortable with spreadsheets
- You want full control
- You don't mind following a process
Use Scallop if:
- You hate spreadsheets
- You want zero friction
- You just want it done in 60 seconds
Both work. Both are accurate.
Pick what fits your brain better.
Want to Join the Scallop Beta? π§
If you want to be one of the 10 beta users, just add your email here:
https://scallop.to/waiting-list
First 10 people get the $29 lifetime price + my personal support on each import.
The Bottom Line π
Amazon accounting doesn't need to be expensive.
Or complicated.
You can handle it yourself in 10 minutes per month.
Either with my free spreadsheet, or with Scallop.
Both beat paying $400/month to a bookkeeper.
Your choice. π€·ββοΈ
Dobro
P.S. β Already using my old spreadsheet and having issues? Email me at [email protected]. I'll help you migrate to the new one (or to Scallop if you prefer).
